Ethnik Festival of Arts and Culture 2026 Returns as Alberta’s Premier Black History Month Celebration Calgary, AB — The Ethnik Festivals Association, a community-driven, not-for-profit arts and cultural organization, proudly announces the return of its flagship event, the Ethnik Festival of Arts and Culture (EFAC) 2026, taking place February 27 to March 1, 2026, in Calgary. Recognized as Alberta’s premier Black History Month celebration, EFAC 2026 will once again bring together Afro-Canadian, Caribbean, and multicultural communities to honour Black excellence, creativity, and cultural identity through a dynamic, multi-day festival experience. The festival offers a powerful platform for artistic expression, youth empowerment, cultural education, and community connection—welcoming audiences from across Alberta, Canada, and beyond. Celebrating Culture, Creativity, and Community Founded on the belief that art is a universal language, the Ethnik Festivals Association is dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and elevating the artistic traditions and lived experiences of Afro-Canadian and Caribbean communities. Its work is rooted in artist development and research, youth learning and empowerment, and the celebration and promotion of cultural identities through meaningful festivals and community gatherings. “At its heart, EFAC is about connection—connecting generations, cultures, and communities through art, history, and shared experience,” said Lanre Ajayi, The Artistic and Creative Director, Ethnik Festivals Association. “We believe that celebrating Black history is not only about honouring the past, but also about empowering the present and inspiring the future.” A Three-Day Immersive Festival Experience EFAC 2026 features a thoughtfully curated lineup of events across three days, blending tradition, innovation, and community engagement.

Calgary Food War: Battle of the Seniors (5:00 PM – 9:00 PM MST) The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland 750 9 Avenue SE, Calgary
A beloved EFAC tradition returns with a heartwarming new theme. The Calgary Food War – Battle of the Seniors celebrates the culinary wisdom, cultural stories, and creativity of senior community members. The evening also features the New & Emerging Artists’ Showcase, highlighting local talents at the start of their creative journeys.
Day 2 – Friday, February 28, 2026
Main Festival Celebration Genesis Centre – Feature Gymnasium & Event Centre 7555 Falconridge Blvd NE #10, Calgary Red Carpet: 1:00 PM | Main Event: 2:00 PM MST onwards
The Main Festival Celebration is the centerpiece of EFAC 2026, showcasing a vibrant mix of local and international artistic talent.

The festival concludes with the elegant Black Gold Ball & Recognition Night, an exclusive celebration honouring excellence, leadership, and achievement within the community. Designed for entrepreneurs, professionals, artists, and leaders, the evening features:
